Events by Kids

What if children didn’t just attend events — but created them?

Events by Kids is a project that puts children in charge of planning, organizing, and running their own events. Birthday parties, talent shows, charity bake sales, science fairs, community festivals — the type of event doesn’t matter. What matters is that the child is the one making the decisions.

What Kids Learn

Event planning is one of the most powerful learning experiences a child can have:

  • Organizational thinking — planning steps, timelines, and logistics
  • Decision-making — choosing themes, activities, and resources
  • Social skills and empathy — thinking about what guests will enjoy
  • Problem-solving — adapting when things don’t go as planned
  • Collaboration — working with others to bring a vision to life

Every event a child plans — no matter how small — builds confidence, creativity, and leadership.

The Tools

Events by Kids provides two tools designed specifically for children:

The Event Design Map — a single-page printable template where kids define their event: purpose, audience, activities, resources, promotion, and safety. It breaks the overwhelming task of event planning into clear, manageable pieces.

The Event Builder Game — an interactive online tool that walks kids through six steps of event planning. They choose their event type, select a theme, set the details, pick a venue, build their activity list, and generate a complete event plan they can print and follow.

The Approach

The child leads. Adults support with safety and logistics, but the vision, planning, and execution belong to the kids. A slightly chaotic event that a child planned is worth infinitely more than a flawless event that an adult planned for them.
